    Dr. Van Sciver is a 1986 graduate of N.C. State University and opened his own practice in Delaware in 1993. He opened the door at this location in October 2000, and welcomed Dr. Gaines as his partner in 2004. Dr. Van Sciver has been married for 19 years, and has 4 children. His family has 2 dogs: Rosie and Bear, and 4 cats: Ruby, Mary, Simone, and Onyx. Dr. V spends his free time carting 2 of his children to ice hockey, and traveling to the Adirondacks. Bring you big dog, little dog, or interesting cat to meet our practice owner soon!! View

    Dr. Kim Gaines graduated in 1995 from U of D, and 1999 from Virginia Tech with a DVM degree. She has been married for four years and has two children. Dr. Gaines joined our practice in July 2000, and became partner in 2004. Developing long lasting relationships with clients patients is one of the most enjoyable things about her job. If she could be any animal, it would be a Carolina Wren because they are "so tiny, but have such a beautiful singing voice". She looks forward to meeting you soon and caring for your pet. View

    Alison has been employed at Forrest Avenue Animal Hospital since 2004. She graduated from Delaware Tech in 2004 receiving an associates degree in Veterinary Technology. Along with her husband and daughter at home she has 2 crazy dogs, Charlie, a boxer and Sanford, a jack russell, and a mean old cat, Tiara! She is also the head of our Puppy Kindergarten Classes that are now available at the hospital. Feel free to stop by or call her for more information.

    We would like to welcome Dr. Robyn Harper to our practice this month!! She is returning to Delaware after practicing large animal medicine in Canterbury CT for 2 1/2 years. A Delaware native, Dr. Harper earned her Bachelor's degree (Biology) at MaryWashington College, a 2nd Bachelor's (Animal Science) at U of D, and finally her veterinary degree at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She has 3 cats, Ayshire, Stella, Fred, as is very excited to be joining the team at Forrest Avenue Animal Hospital as a mixed animal practioner. Schedule an appointment to meet her today! View

She is currently in the Veterinary Technician program at Delaware Technical College, expected to gradute in 2009. She has 3 labs that LOVE to hunt: Jake, Sandy, and Molly, and the blue-eyed, white furred beauty queen Cassiblu. Trish loves working at Forrest Avenue, and can't wait to graduate! View

    Carol has been at the hospital since March 2006 and has become a vital part of our family. Along with a BA in Equine Science from Otterbein College, she brought with her 12 years of experience, and a wealth of knowledge. Carol has 2 dogs, Max Katie, 1 cat Trinity, Myrtle the Turtle, and several fish. Although she adores her job, this newly licensed technician (june 2007) sometimes wishes she could be a sea turtle so "I can swim in the ocean all year long". View

    Stacey started as a volunteer in 2005, and became a P/T employee in 2006. She is currently enrolled in the technician program at DelTech, and is expected to gradute in 2009. Tending to her 2 dogs "Sara" (lab) and "Molly" (border collie), as well as a wide variety of barn cats, a herd of 30 Boer goats, 4 Pygmy goats, and a beef steer keep her occupied while she's not at work. Stacey loves her job because of "never knowing what the day will bring once I walk through the door". While not showing one of her goats, she can often be found lending a helping hand to new members of the FFA or 4-H. View

    Renae joined our staff in 2006. As former student of DelTech, she brought many years of veterinary experience and a wonderful personality with her. Renae is the proud owner of 3 dogs: "Lady" (German ShortHair Pointer), "Obi" (Rat Terrier), and "Chewie" (beagle Mix). She enjoys being able to see the different personalities of each pet that comes in, and loves the smell of puppy breath! If Renae could be any animal, she would be a puppy because they "get to eat, play, sleep all day!" (all though we secretly know she has many similarities to a Howler Monkey!!) Stop by and see Renae, she can't wait to meet you!! View

While not tending to her English Bulldog "Maria", 3 cats: "Misty", "Boots" "Rainbow", or her 4 children (5 if you count the hubby!!)Theresa has managed to earn a 3rd degree Black belt in Tang Soo Do. She dreams of one day having a great adventure...but in the mean time would be a wild horse if she had to choose any animal to be because "I can't think of anything more wild or free to enjoy life".     ViewAfter graduating in May with a BS in Biology from St. John Fisher College, our newest family member joined us in October of 2008. Alex thinks the best parts of her job are helping sick animals feel better and educating clients on how to be responsible pet owners. If she could be any animal, she would be a dolphin because they are so smart and do lots of things "just for fun". Her dream is to one day work at a zoo or animal sanctuary. Alex happily resides with her hubby and 2 kitties Sheba Itty Bitty.

 Tick season is fast approaching, are your furry friends prepared?  The monthly use of topical flea/tick preventions is strongly encouraged in our area all year around.  Also, be sure to thoroughly check every family member after being outdoors!  If you have any questions or concerns regarding Lyme disease, or any other tick born disease, feel free to contact one of our friendly staff members for more information!
